The Old Pine Stump, is all that remains in College Park of the tree now known as the Lone Pine. President Tucker's administration placed the plaque and concrete coping around the stump and preserved it with chemicals; Tucker himself wrote the inscription. The charring comes presumably from the lightning that struc the tree in the late 19th century.
